Where marks are lost

Knowing the facts is not always enough to gain the marks.

Many Biology students lose marks because they struggle with command words, application, data analysis, extended answers or knowing how to revise effectively.

01

Clear teaching

Difficult ideas are broken into manageable steps, with diagrams, examples and checks for understanding before exam practice.

02

Retrieval practice

Students revisit key facts regularly so important definitions, processes and terminology become easier to recall under pressure.

03

CCEA exam questions

Lessons include representative question practice so students learn how knowledge is tested and where marks are commonly lost.

04

Mark-scheme language

Students practise using precise biological wording that matches what examiners are looking for in short and extended answers.

05

Personal feedback

Small groups make it easier to spot misconceptions, correct exam technique and give each student focused next steps.

06

Small-group interaction

Students can ask questions, hear other explanations and stay actively involved instead of disappearing in a large class.

Why small groups work

Three to five students means nobody disappears.

Students can ask questions

With only three to five students, there is time to pause, revisit tricky points and make sure questions are answered properly.

Understanding can be checked

The tutor can use quick questions, mini tasks and exam examples to check whether each student is ready to move on.

Feedback is targeted

Students receive specific guidance on knowledge gaps, command words, data handling and the wording needed for marks.

Lessons stay interactive

The group is small enough for discussion and practice, but still has the energy of learning alongside other Biology students.

Students learn from one another

Hearing other students explain ideas can reveal new approaches and normalise asking for help when a topic feels difficult.

Lower cost than one-to-one tuition

Small-group lessons provide more individual attention than a large class while keeping the price below one-to-one tuition.

FAQs

Questions parents often ask.

How many students are in each group?

Small-group classes contain three to five students. Each class is limited to a maximum of five students and is subject to a minimum enrolment of three.

Which year groups do you support?

Tuition is available for Year 11 GCSE, Year 12 GCSE, Year 13 AS and Year 14 A2 Biology students in Northern Ireland.

Are lessons online?

Yes. Lessons are live online sessions, available to students throughout Northern Ireland.

Is the tuition CCEA-focused?

Yes. Lessons are designed around the CCEA specification, examination skills, command words and mark-scheme expectations. The business is not affiliated with or endorsed by CCEA.

What happens if my child misses a class?

Missed sessions are not normally refundable because places are limited. Exceptional circumstances may be considered.

How is payment handled?

Group tuition is normally sold in six-week blocks and payment is made in advance. A submitted enquiry does not guarantee that a group is confirmed. Payment arrangements are confirmed directly with parents after a suitable place has been agreed.

Will homework be set?

Students may receive short retrieval, practice or exam-question tasks to consolidate the lesson.

Will parents receive feedback?

Parents can receive brief progress updates covering attendance, engagement, topics, strengths and next steps.

What is the free Biology assessment?

It identifies strengths, areas for improvement and the most suitable tuition option. It does not create an obligation to buy tuition.

Are lessons recorded?

Lessons are not routinely recorded. Any recording would require clear consent and appropriate safeguarding arrangements.
